FED: Drug, herbal medicine makers distance themselves from Pan
Australian drug and herbal medicine makers are scrambling to distance themselves fromdisgraced company Pan Pharmaceuticals.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration yesterday suspended Pan's licence for six monthsand recalled more than 200 of its products.
Pan is Australia's largest contract manufacturer of herbal, vitamin and nutritionalsupplements, and also makes some over-the-counter medicines including painkillers.
Companies who say none of their products are manufactured by Pan include Roche, whichmarkets Berocca, Aspro and Naprogesic, Boots Healthcare Australia, which has Nurofen,and GlaxoSmithKline, which makes Panadol.
Abbott Australasia, Novogen, Sigma, Floridis, Fusion Health also say they're unaffectedby the action against Pan.
But the Mayne Group says it's voluntarily recalling some of its products made by Pan,and Vita Life Sciences says it may have to take similar action.
