Fed: Billson apologises to Vietnam vets
Veterans Affairs Minister BRUCE BILLSON has apologised to Australians who served in
Vietnam .. for the way they were treated when they came home.
He says it's regrettable there was no ticker tape parade on the veterans' return ..
and Australia as a nation had let them down.
The minister also warned of the complexities of issuing new bravery medals to veterans
.. amid calls from Labor for an independent review into the fairness of the bravery awards
system.
Mr BILLSON was speaking in Canberra at the launch of a new book and website .. which
bring together stories from the Vietnam veteran's community.
